Who says you can't bring your four-legged family members along when you're going camping or for a weekend away? We've done the legwork for you and compiled a list of the best dog-friendly campgrounds across Queensland. Families with dogs in tow can rest easy knowing that dog-friendly camping options abound in Queensland. You can find a camping ground to suit your needs, whether you're looking for a quiet retreat in the woods or a beachside getaway. If you're planning to take your pet on a road trip, here's a quick checklist of things to remember:
Our top picks for dog-friendly camping spots in Queensland are listed below in no particular order, so find the one that suits you and plan your next trip with your pup!
Sandy Creek Camping is the place to go if you want peace and quiet. The hills behind Kilcoy are home to this small, family-run campground. It's possible to bike or walk through nearly 500 acres of undeveloped land where you'll see a wide variety of birds and wildlife. Tents, caravans, and motorhomes are all welcome on the spacious campsites. Toilets and hot showers are available, despite the lack of electricity. They allow dogs, but they must be kept under control at all times.
Boreen Point Campground, on the shores of Noosa River's largest lake, Lake Cootharaba, is just 30 minutes north of Noosa. Natural bushland surrounds the campgrounds, where you can pitch your tent or park your van while taking in stunning views of water. A dog application form can be found on Boreen Point's website if you'd like to bring your pet along for the ride. Camping options include 8 powered and multiple unpowered sites in the bush or on the sand foreshore near the nice beach. Campground amenities include hot showers, toilets, drinking water, a camp kitchen, BBQs, laundry, and even a campfire. A good general store and a family-friendly pub can both be found within walking distance as well. Boreen Point is a great option for those seeking a peaceful retreat with a wide range of things to do close by. Campers at Boreen Point can enjoy swimming, fishing, boating, and kayaking in the area's waters. If you don't have your own, you can rent kayaks and SUPs from the campground or bring your own. A variety of hiking trails can be found nearby as well. Caravan and motorhome campers may bring their dogs, but they must be on a leash at all times and must have their pets approved prior to their arrival. It is the responsibility of dog owners to clean up after their pets and dispose of their waste in a proper manner. In the camp kitchen and amenities, pets are prohibited. So plan your trip around peak periods like Christmas and Easter and September school vacations when pets aren't allowed.

At Imbil Camping Retreat, you have complete freedom to do as little or as much as you want. It's a great spot for swimming, kayaking, or casting a line to see if you get any takes. The 12-acre Imbil Camping Retreat sits next to Yabba Creek, where you can go exploring or relax and take it all in. Tent and caravan campers can choose between electric and non-electric sites. Among the amenities available are a camp kitchen, bathrooms with hot water, fire pits, and even a playground. They have dog-friendly campsites, but they must be kept under control at all times.
Imbil's Borumba Deer Park is a unique camping area that sits on the Yabba Creek. Swimming, fishing, and kayaking are just a few of the activities available in this area, as well as a chance to say hello to a few deer. Borumba Dam, just down the creek, has waterskiing and jet-boating for those looking for a little more excitement. But what's even better? Bring your dog along for all the fun if you pay a small fee. This dog-friendly campground owned and operated by a family is a wonderful place to relax and spend time with loved ones.
Every campsite at Gordon Country has its own acreage so you won't be cramped at all. We recommend this location for those seeking a technology-free weekend because there is no phone or internet reception. There are a wide variety of campsites to choose from. Septic toilets are available at some locations while hot showers are available at others. There are even places that have electricity available for those who need it. In addition, there are cabins and glamping.
This eco-tourism camping spot is spread over 4000 acres, so you'll have plenty of room to spread out. All of the campsites are given a few acres of land to themselves. Swimming and 4WD trails are available, as well as beautiful hiking and mountain views. Relax by a fire pit with your dog or horse and enjoy a digital detox! Dogs are welcome at Gordon Country Campgrounds, but there are some rules. In the glamping tents, cabins, or any furniture on the decks, dogs are not permitted. Restraints must also be put in place to keep dogs under control at all times and at night. All required vaccinations must also be current.
Inskip Peninsula Recreation Area features white sand and clear blue waters which has made it a popular destination for both humans and their four-legged friends. Rainbow Beach, Tin Can Bay, and Fraser Island are all within a few minutes' drive or a short drive from the resort. Some of the campgrounds at Inskip are better suited to 4WD vehicles than others, but securing a site is a game of "first in, best dressed" because this place gets busy quickly.

For the dogs, there are plenty of off-leash options at Goomburra Valley Campgrounds to explore. Families with dogs are required to pay a bond, which is refunded upon departure. Don't forget to bring along your vaccination certificates when you visit. Keep your pets on a leash or harness and clean up any dog waste after you arrive.
